Schubert Tabbed NEWHA Supervisor of Officials
WINTHROP, Mass. – Commissioner Robert DeGregorio, Jr. announced Friday the hiring of Michael Schubert as the Supervisor of Officials of the New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA).
Schubert brings extensive experience in officiating leadership, development, and on-ice performance to the role. He has served as Supervisor of Officials for the Eastern Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) since 2013, where he has overseen league officiating operations, implemented training initiatives, and built strong relationships with coaches and administrators to enhance communication and game integrity. More recently, he served as Supervisor of Officials for the Eastern States College Hockey League from 2021 to 2025, continuing his work in recruitment, mentorship, and performance evaluation of officials.
In addition to his leadership roles, Schubert has an accomplished career as an on-ice official. From 2010 to 2022, he officiated in Atlantic Hockey, earning multiple playoff assignments and seven selections to the league's championship weekend. Schubert has also previously served on ice at the NCAA Division I level, including regional tournaments and Frozen Four semifinal appearances, underscoring his consistency and excellence in high-level competition.
Schubert is widely recognized for his strengths in training development, policy implementation, and conflict resolution, as well as his commitment to mentoring the next generation of officials. His approach emphasizes professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.
In his new role, Schubert will oversee the recruitment, assignment, and development of officials for NEWHA, while continuing to foster collaboration between coaches, administrators, and officials across the league.
ABOUT THE NEW ENGLAND WOMEN'S HOCKEY ALLIANCE
Founded in 2017, the New England Women's Hockey Alliance is comprised of three NCAA Division I institutions and five NCAA Division II institutions. Members of the NEWHA include Assumption University, Franklin Pierce University, Long Island University, Post University, Sacred Heart University, Saint Anselm College, Saint Michael's College, and Stonehill College.
