Adams Appointed NEWHA Associate Commissioner for Media Relations
WINTHROP, Mass. – The New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) Commissioner Robert DeGregorio Jr. announced the appointment of Ryan Adams as the league's new Associate Commissioner for Media Relations on July 1, 2026.
In this role, Adams will oversee the conference's communications strategy, media relations efforts, website management, statistical reporting, and digital storytelling initiatives while working closely with the league's member institutions to promote student-athletes, coaches, and programs throughout the conference.
"Ryan has established himself as one of the rising professionals in collegiate athletic communications and brings a tremendous amount of experience and energy to the NEWHA office," said Robert DeGregorio Jr.. "His background in media relations, storytelling, statistics, and digital content creation makes him an outstanding addition to our conference leadership team. We are excited for Ryan to help elevate the visibility of our student-athletes and continue the growth of the NEWHA brand."
Adams joins the NEWHA after serving in athletic communications roles at both Division I and Division II institutions. Currently, he serves as an Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at Stonehill College, serving as the primary media contact for numerous varsity programs, including men's and women's ice hockey, soccer, tennis, equestrian, and baseball. His responsibilities included media relations, website administration, statistical reporting, streaming production, and supervision of student employees and game workers.
Prior to his time at Stonehill, Adams spent nearly two years in the athletic communications office at the University of Hartford, where he was hired as an Assistant Director of Athletics Communications following his graduate assistantship. During his tenure, he oversaw media coverage, social media, game programs, graphics production, and website maintenance for multiple Division I programs.

Adams earned a Master of Communication degree from the University of Hartford in 2023 after receiving his Bachelor of Science in Sports and Leisure Management from Eastern Connecticut State University in 2019.

Founded in 2017, the New England Women's Hockey Alliance is comprised of three NCAA Division I institutions and five NCAA Division II institutions.
