Grossman to Serve as NEWHA Coaches' Chair for 2026-27
WINTHROP, Mass. (July 10, 2026) – The New England Women’s Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) Commissioner Robert DeGregorio Jr. has announced the appointment of Joe Grossman as the league’s Coaches Chair for the 2026-27 season.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank outgoing Coaches Chair Lee-J Mirasolo for doing an outstanding job in leading the coaches during the 2025-26 season,” said DeGregorio Jr. “I also want to congratulate Joe on his appointment and look forward to working with him in this new role.”
Grossman enters his third season as head coach at Assumption after previously serving as an assistant coach under Mirasolo at Stonehill during the Skyhawks' historic run to the NCAA Tournament in 2023-24.
In just its third season of existence, Assumption took a significant step forward during the 2025-26 campaign, posting a 19-16-3 overall record and a 17-8-3 mark in NEWHA play. The Greyhounds finished second in the conference standings, just two points behind regular-season and tournament champion Franklin Pierce and earned the No. 2 seed in the NEWHA Tournament.
Over his first two seasons as head coach, Grossman has compiled a 29-39-6 overall record and a 27-24-5 mark in NEWHA play, elevating the Greyhounds into conference title contention. His efforts behind the bench earned him recognition as a finalist for the 2025-26 NEWHA Coach of the Year award.
