NEWHA Weekly Awards: Week 11

Player of the Week

Maddi Achtyl, Stonehill College

The senior forward posted a five-point weekend in a pair of 6-0 wins over Saint Michael's. In Friday night's triumph, the Lancaster, N.Y. native posted a two-goal performance with one coming on the power play and finishing a plus-one. In Saturday's win, she recorded three points on two goals and one assist, including one tally on the power play, while finishing plus-three. The senior currently ranks first in the league in goals (13) and second in points (17).

Defensive Player of the Week

Emma Mörtl, LIU

In just her fifth and sixth games of the season, the senior helped the Sharks to a weekend sweep of Post in a home-and-home with the Eagles. On Friday, the Graz, Styria, Austria native posted a multi-point game with one goal and one assist and a plus-two on-ice rating. She finished plus-three for the weekend with two points.

Goaltender of the Week

Jill Hertl, Franklin Pierce University

The senior posted a .937 save percentage and 1.93 goals against average in a five-point week for the Ravens as they took on league-leading Saint Anselm. In Wednesday's home game, the Highland Park, Ill. native made 31 stops to earn a 2-1 victory. Saturday's game went to a shootout, tied 3-3, as she made 28 saves over 64:26 of action. She did not allow a goal against in the shootout to help pick up the fifth point of the series.

Rookie of the Week

Abby Broz, Franklin Pierce University

The freshman finished with two points and a plus-three on-ice rating in a five-point series against Saint Anselm. The White Bear Lake, Minn. native posted the game-winning goal in Wednesday night's home victory before adding an assist in game two of the series on Thursday. She potted the lone shootout goal on Thursday night on the road to help pick up the fifth point.
