TSR NEWHA Players of the Month - January
Player of the Month
The junior forward played a pivotal offensive role for the Sharks throughout the month of January. Over her ten games played, Babington posted seven goals and five assists for a total of 12 points, all coming in conference play this month. She finished the month with a plus-eight on-ice rating overall (plus-nine NEWHA). She recorded multiple multi-point performances, highlighted by her performance in the Sharks' 4-1 win over Saint Michael's on Jan. 9, when she recorded one goal and two assists. She was especially effective in the faceoff circle, winning 105 draws with an overall faceoff winning percentage of 46.3% and an even 50.0% in conference play. Babington tallied 41 total shots this month. The Hanscom AFB, Mass. native's offensive performance helped drive LIU's success during the month of January, helping them to a solid 6-4-0 (6-2-0 NEWHA) record.
Defensive Player of the Month
The freshman defender established herself as a dependable presence on the Sharks' blue line during January. Over ten games, Robillard tallied two goals and five assists for seven points, including six points in conference contests. She finished January with a plus-three on-ice rating (plus-four NEWHA). Her performance for the Sharks this month was highlighted by a two-point outing (one goal, one assist) in a 3-2 conference win at Stonehill on Jan. 23 and another two-point night (two assists) in a 4-3 victory at Franklin Pierce on Jan. 31. Robillard also netted the game-winning goal in the Sharks' Jan. 30 2-1 overtime win over Franklin Pierce. With 29 shots on goal and 14 blocks this month, the rookie defender showed her two-way strength and played an important role in LIU's success through the heart of the conference schedule.
Goaltender of the Month
The sophomore goaltender delivered consistency between the pipes for the Sharks during January. She started in six games, logging a total of 360:39 of ice time and posting a .957 save percentage. She recorded a 1.33 goals-against average, finishing the January stretch with a 5-1-0 record. Rutnik recorded back-to-back conference shutouts, blanking Saint Michael's with 15 saves on Jan. 10 and Assumption with 27 saves on Jan. 17. She made a total of 178 saves with a high of 37 saves in both the Jan. 23 win over Stonehill and Jan. 30 overtime victory against Franklin Pierce. The Nutley, N.J. native's performance helped anchor the Sharks' 6-4-0 (6-2-0 NEWHA) record over the month.
Rookie of the Month
Addison Andre, Franklin Pierce University
The freshman forward put together an impressive January, emerging as one of the Ravens' most impactful offensive contributors. Over eight total games in January, all NEWHA contests, Andre recorded three goals and three assists for six points. She maintained a plus-three on-ice rating for the month and generated a consistent offensive pressure with 25 shots on goal. She delivered a multi-point performance in a 2-1 win against Sacred Heart on Jan. 10 and netted a pair of game-winning goals to help the Ravens to key league victories. Andre's strong offensive contributions, along with eight blocked shots, earned her NEWHA Rookie of the Week honors twice in January, underscoring her stellar performance as a first-year forward.
