Player of the Month
Caleigh Murphy, Franklin Pierce University
The sophomore forward played a dominant offensive role for the Ravens throughout the month of February. Over her eight games played this month, Murphy recorded 14 points on eight goals and six assists. She tallied three game-winning goals and one shorthanded goal this month. Four of her recorded goals and six of her assists came during regular season play, before she added four more goals during the NEWHA Tournament First Round against Saint Michael's. She finished the month a plus-eleven on-ice rating overall. She recorded multiple multi-point performances, highlighted by her hat trick performance in the Ravens' Feb. 27 8-0 shutout win over Saint Michael's. Murphy tallied 37 total shots this month. The Bell Harbor, N.Y. native's offensive performance helped drive Franklin Pierce's success during the month of February, helping them to claim the first seed prior to NEWHA Tournament play and advance to the semifinal round. The sophomore forward received a Second Team All-NEWHA recognition for the season.
Defensive Player of the Month
Maggie Korneta, Franklin Pierce University
The senior defender anchored the Raven defense while contributing offensively for Franklin Pierce during the month of February. Over eight games, Korneta tallied seven points on one goal and six assists. Four of her assists came during post-season play during a weekend best-of-three series against Saint Michael's. She finished January with a plus-six on-ice rating. Her performance for the Ravens this month was highlighted by a two-point outing (one goal, one assist) in a 6-0 conference win at Saint Michael's. She also tallied three assists in the Feb. 28 first-round 5-1 win against Saint Michael's. With 16 shots on goal and 9 blocks this month, the Naperville, Ill. native showed her two-way reliability and played an important role in the Ravens' 7-1-0 record for the month. The senior defender earned both NEWHA Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-NEWHA recognitions.
Goaltender of the Month
Jill Hertl, Franklin Pierce University
The senior goaltender delivered an outstanding performance this month between the pipes for the Ravens. She started in six games, logging a total of 361:27 of ice time and posting a .971 save percentage. She recorded a 1.00 goals-against average, finishing February regular-season and post-season play with a 6-0 record. She stopped 201 of 207 shots faced during the stretch. The Highland Park, Ill. native recorded two shutouts, including a 25-save shutout in an 8-0 victory against Saint Michael's and a 26-save shutout in a 6-0 win against Saint Michael's. Hertl also delivered an impressive performance in a 4-2 win against Saint Anselm, turning aside 50 shots. Hertl a earned NEWHA weekly award recognition during the month of February, before being named the NEWHA Goaltender of the Year and First Team All-NEWHA.
Rookie of the Month
Abby Broz, Franklin Pierce University
The freshman forward produced an impressive offensive February stretch for the Ravens. Over eight total games in February, including two post-season games, Broz recorded two goals and nine assist for a total of 11 points. She maintained a plus-eight on-ice rating for the month and generated a consistent offensive pressure with 31 shots on goal. She delivered career-high four-point performance against Saint Michael's on two goals and two assists. She posted an impressive month at the faceoff dot, winning 72 of 121 total faceoffs taken. The White Bear Lake, Minn. native's strong offensive contributions helped the Ravens to a successful 7-1-0 record, including two post-season NEWHA Tournament wins, during the month of February.
