NEWHA Weekly Awards: Week 14

Player of the Week

Grace Babington, Long Island University

The junior forward was a key factor in the Sharks' offensive success over their weekend sweep of Saint Michael's. She totaled three goals and two assists, tallying five points on the weekend. She also posted a +6 on-ice rating over the two games. Babington recorded a three-point performance in Friday's win and followed it up with a two-goal effort in Saturday's shutout, including an empty-net goal. The Hanscom AFB, Mass. native tallied eight shots on goal across the two games.

Defensive Player of the Week

Reagan Whynot, Stonehill College

Whynot was a major contributor in the Skyhawks' two-game sweep of Saint Anselm this weekend. The sophomore defender led the team offensively with four points on three goals and an assist, including two power-play goals scored in a four-minute span during Saturday's win. Her tallied assist came on a goal in the opening frame in Friday evening's game, which ultimately stood as the game-winning goal. The Perth, Ontario native added a +1 on-ice rating and fired ten shots over the series, highlighted by a career-high eight shots on Saturday.

Goaltender of the Week

Jill Hertl, Franklin Pierce University

The senior goaltender anchored the Ravens to a two-game sweep of Sacred Heart with a standout weekend in net. She stopped 79 shots across two starts, posting a .963 save percentage and a 1.45 goals-against average while also earning both wins. Hertl made 45 saves in Friday's overtime victory and followed up with 34 stops in Saturday's win. The Highland Park, Ill. Native allowed just three total goals in 124 minutes of action over the weekend. Her season goals-against average of 2.06, save percentage of .943, and win percentage of .594 currently have her sitting in first place in the NEWHA standings for each category.

Rookie of the Week

AddisonAndre, Franklin Pierce University

The freshman forward made a strong impact in the Ravens' two-game sweep of Sacred Heart this weekend. She recorded a goal and an assist, tallying two points on the week. She also finished the weekend with a +2 on-ice rating. Andre led the Raven team with five shots in Friday's win and followed up with a goal in Saturday's victory. The South St. Paul, Minn. native totaled eight shots over the series.
